G.A.T.E. is a program for students in 4th, 5th, and 6th grades.
Students are qualified for G.A.T.E. based on their State Test scores. To qualify students need to score in the 95th Percentile (not percentage) in both the Language Arts and Math sections or 99th percentile in one area. Scores of all Clovis Unified Students in each grade level are complied to determine the 95th percentile scores. This school year we are looking at the iReady Reading and iReady Math Diagnostic scores, using the same criteria.
A District test given to students that were close to qualifying in both Language Arts and Math, and have a Teacher Recommendation. Students will need to score in the 98th Percentile on this test to qualify. The test is given only once per school year, usually in October or November. If it is determined that your student should test they will receive a Permission Slip from the G.A.T.E. Advisor, Mrs. Carmen Gomes. This year's test will be given on October 8, 2019 at 8:30 a.m.
If you feel that your child has been overlooked and would like me to look up your child’s test scores, please email me at
[email protected]If your child has already qualified previously for the GATE Program, they will continue to be in the G.A.T.E. program while at Clovis Unified School District.
If your student qualified at another school district, I can look up their scores and see if they meet the qualifications set by Clovis Unified.
GATE Meetings are on Mondays at 3:15-4:15 p.m.
