The purpose of the page is for our staff and students to be able to illustrate the amazing things that are happening at Cole!
What is IDAC?
Intercultural Diversity Advisory Council (IDAC) draws members from parents to represent our school at district level climate assessment/problem-solving meetings. The primary purpose of the Intercultural Diversity Advisory Council (IDAC), originally formed in 1988 as the Intercultural Advisory Council, is to assist in the formation and review of policies that assure non-discriminatory practices in all operational areas of the Clovis Unified School District. Its further mission is to assist in improving the cultural environment of the District.

IDAC Focus Areas
Our goal is to help our students understand and embrace the differences between everyone.
Cole is made up of many families from a variety of backgrounds and cultures. It is important that we have a better understanding of the similarities and differences that make our school such an amazing place to be.
Assemblies
African Drum Interactive
On October 10, 2023, our Cole Bulldogs welcomed African Drum Interactive! Our students and staff absolutely loved the experience and the lessons taught by such talented musicians. A little snippet from their website tells the “why” behind the “what”.
We preserve the cultural significance found in African Drumming through beginner friendly group drumming, performances, classes, and programming!
For years, it has been our mission to uplift and unify all people, heal our families and communities, and spread joy and culture through African Drumming.
Thank you so much African Drum Interactive!
Cole's Student PAC are so helpful! This group of 5th and 6th graders discuss with Mrs. Arruda the ins and outs of Cole Student Life! They give great feedback on our student activities. They also help with ideas to facilitate our campus to feel welcome to all students. They meet with Mrs. Arruda once a month. Great job, Cole Student Pac.
Recess Buddies
5th and 6th grade PAC leaders started the Recess Buddies program to help facilitate better social interaction for younger students on campus. The Recess Buddy leaders meet with 'Coach Roc,' and learn how to lead games at recess with younger students. This is promoting positive student interaction during the primary recess times.
At Cole we want everyone to feel accepted and valued. We have brought in a variety of speakers and shows to teach and encourage students about character development and conflict resolution.
The Retro Bill Show
Cole Elementary welcomed Retro Bill on October 24th during our Red Ribbon Week. He had a great message to our student body focusing on the six pillars of character, saying “No” to drugs and alcohol, boosting self-esteem, celebrating diversity, discussing anti-bullying and conflict resolution. Thank you so much, Retro Bill for coming to see us!
